The Somers Point Bayfest was first organized to celebrate Earth Day and the environment. Bayfest continues that tradition 20 years later by hosting a variety of environmental groups that help to educate the public on the many issues that continue to face us.

New in 2007 Bayfest were the 5th & 6th Graders from the Somers Point Dawes Avenue Scholl with their Save the Bluff Fund. Our school children have become concerned as erosion is deteriorating the bluff at Kennedy Park, only one of two coastal bluffs in the State of New Jersey. The 5th & 6th Graders have imparked on a project to raise the community’s awareness, raise funds for the purchase and planting of indigenous plant materials, in order to stabilize and save our coastal bluff from erosion.

For more information concerning the Save the Bluff project, please visit their web site at www.somersptschools.org/dawes/bluff/

Returning to this year's event is the Lenape Lifeways program featuring tales of life in Somers Point for the Lenapes and authentic artifacts. Please welcome Lenape Lifeways and take some time to meet with these fascinating historians.
